PROJECT
Create a movie poster for any silent film produced before 1930.
SOLUTION
The movie Metropolis features a futuristic society in post-WWII Germany. In a society divided by social class, the robot, Maria, is the catalyst that brings chaos and insurrection to the working class.
The design solution draws on these themes, particularly the chaos of Maria as she dominates Germany. The strong geometric patterns were inspired by the Art Deco movement that took over Western Europe and the United States in the 1920’s.

Create a magazine opening spread for featuring any musical artist.
SOLUTION
Frank Ocean’s music is best described as alternative R&B pop. With his authentic, psychedelic sound in mind, the design captures his unusual disturbing classic style. Ocean’s colorful face—full of complex geometric shapes—reflects his chaotic sound and his blunt, thought-provoking lyrics. The blue text is a quote by Ocean, which succinctly articulates how an artist should approach their career and success. His open mouth is expelling everything but words. It represents his silent success as his generation’s most admired musical artist.

Design a poster and overlay
motion pieces that will be viewed using Augmented Reality. The theme is
open ended.
SOLUTION
This poster design is part one of the whole project. The intended goal behind the poster design was to mimic the style of vintage space posters (accomplished largely through the dull color palette) while also approaching the design both 2 dimensionally and 3 dimensionally.
